Here comes Ike
See, this is why we don’t look for homes in a flood-prone area. We’re starting now to get the outer bands of clouds and rain coming ashore - it’s getting mighty gray out there, and there are about 100 tiny little birds taking shelter in the bushes in our back yard.
We’re probably not going to see much worse than 80 mph winds this far inland, and maybe 6-8 inches of rain. Some of our neighbors have boarded up a few windows, but our two neighbors who’ve lived in the neighborhood the longest aren’t bothering. We’re taking our cues from them. We have food, water, and propane, and we’ve caught up on all the laundry and vacuuming so that if the power goes out, we’ll at least be stuck in a CLEAN dark house!
You don’t need to bother praying for us - unless of course the Lord moves you to do so - because I’m spending all my time praying for those in the flood zones to get out quickly and safely, and for the Lord to shelter the heart of the poor family in Montgomery county whose 10 year old son was killed when they were trimming the tree branches in preparation and a branch fell on him and killed him. My heart hurts for them - my children and my husband are my reasons for breathing, and I can just imagine the horror they are living through.
We’re fine in Katy - pray for the ones who REALLY need it.
I am not sure where Katy is. We have family in Madisonville, Dallas, Austin, Hye, and Beaumont. It’s pretty scary watching the news seeing the damage already in Galveston! I will be praying for all who need it. Hurricanes are scary things!
